White Island

Whenever people talk about Camiguin Island in the Philippines, the very first thing that comes to mind is White Island. Ideal for swimming, sunbathing and snorkeling the intensely vibrant reefs around it, White Island resides 2 kilometers off the coast of Agoho, Mambajao. It is the island's popular sand bar.

At times it is in the shape of the letter C, sometimes the letter I, depending on the ocean tide. It has the picturesque Mount Hibok-Hibok and Old Vulcan as its backdrop.

There used to be no shade spots on this island, so sensitive folks would be wise to remember sun block and/or beach umbrella. But when I went there last Easter, they had huge umbrellas and tents set up which is a good thing considering the weather nowadays.

I am not sure if they do this all the time, before going there, it may be wise to check the island firsthand to see if there are any tents or umbrellas set up. If there are none, it is advisable to bring one to keep you under the shade.

There are many activities that can be enjoyed while you are there like banana boat rides, speed boat rentals, jet ski rentals, kayaks and others.

If you are going to have a trip to Camiguin Island, this is one hotspot you must never miss! It is best to go there in the early hours in the morning like 6am since the tide is low during that time.

You can go to White Island by bangka and have them fetch you when you want to go back to the main island. The ride back and forth costs 400 pesos when we last went there.

Camiguin Island is one island paradise rich in culture and natural resorts and beaches. One of the most relaxing thin to do is taking a dip in the hot springs, very relaxing and soothing, best done right after a whole day of sightseeing and touring the place.
