The Mystery Spot

From the official website, it says:

The Mystery Spot is a gravitational anomaly located in the redwood forests just outside of Santa Cruz, California. It is a circular area of effect around 150 feet or 46 meters in diameter. Within the Mystery Spot you will be stunned as your perceptions of the laws of physics and gravity are questioned. But don't take our word for it, come and decide for yourself! The Mystery Spot was discovered in 1939 by a group of surveyors and opened to the public in 1940. The Mystery Spot has amazed and perplexed hundreds of thousands of visitors from all over the world, and many return time and time again to experience these puzzling variations of gravity, perspective, and height.

Some speculate that cones of metal were secretly brought here and buried in our earth as guidance systems for their spacecraft. Some think that it is in fact the spacecraft itself burried deep within the ground. Other theories include carbon dioxide permeating from the earth, a hole in the ozone layer, a magma vortex, the highest dielectric biocosmic radiation known anywhere in the world, and radiesthesia. Whatever the cause is, it remains a mystery.

Kinda unbelievable right? Not unless you experience it for yourself. As the saying goes, to see is to believe. And I believed everything the website said and more. The tour doesn't take very long as your tour guide would guide you through the area, stopping at one place at a time and shows you the mysteries surrounding that spot. For instance, the guide placed a board in the middle of a stone, looking much like a see-saw and in a slanting position. When he placed a cylindrical object (containing some sort of liquid element) that would measure the equilibrium on the surface, naturally your first expectation would be that it would point downward. Wrong! What happened was that the liquid element stayed at a standstill, like it was lying on a flat surface. Unbelievable!

When you look at the house built on top of the mystery spot, you'd think of it like some house in a sci-fi movie where it's built in a slanting position. When you go inside, you will be shown why standing on the side of the wall won't make you fall, but instead you're standing still like you're standing straight. Check this picture here (upper right). It may look like I'm holding on to something since my other hand could not be seen but I am not. If I stand vertically slanting backward, naturally I would fall. And I said awhile ago, I was standing perfectly normal. This other picture of my sister and the tour guide shows a much more detailed view of how they stood like they were standing upright.
